मैं इक शिकरा यार बनाया

(शिकरा एक पक्षी का नाम है जो मांस खाता है, उसका उदाहरण लेकर शिव कहते हैं कि उनकी प्रेमिका उस शिकरा पक्षी की तरह थी। जिसके सिर पर कलगी है और पैरों में पायल है। वह पक्षी दाना चुगते हुए आ गया था)

इक ओदे रूप दी धुप तिखेरी
दुजा महकां दा तिरहाया
तीजा ओदा रंग गुलाबी
किसे गोरी मां दा जाया

(एक तो उसका रूप बहुत सुंदर है। दूसरा किसी इत्र के समान महकता है और तीसरा उसका गुलाबी रंग है। इसे देखकर लगता है कि उसका मां भी गोरे रंग वाली होगी)

इश्के दा इक पलंग नवारी,
असां चानन्नियां विच डाया
तन दी चादर हो गई मैली
उस पैर जां पलंगे पाया

(उसके लिए इश्क़ का एक पलंग तैयार किया जिसे चांद की रौशनी में बिछाया। जैसे ही उसके पैरों ने उसे छुआ उससे तन मैला हो गया)

दुखण मेरे नैनां दे कोये
विच हाड़ हंजुआं दा आईया
सारी रात गई विच सोचां
उस ए कि जुल्म कमाया

(दुख के कारण मेरी आंखें कमज़ोर हो गयी हैं। उनमें आंसुओं की बाढ़ी आ गयी है। सारी रात बस यही सोचा कि ये दुख क्यूं कमाया)

सुबह सवेरे लै नी वटणा
असां मल मल ओस नव्हाया
देही दे विचों निकलण चींगां
ते साडा हाथ गया कुम्हलाया

(मैंने सुबह शाम ख़ुद को मला और नहाया। उसके बाद जो भी मेरे बदन से निकला उससे मेरा हाथ भी कुम्हला गया)

इक उडारी ऐसी मारी

(वो शिकरा और कुछ तो नहीं खाता, मैंने उसे दिल का मांस खिलाया है। उसने एक ऐसी उड़ान मारी कि वो फिर लौटकर नहीं आया)
