He mostly wrote Ghazals, and Jagjit Singh sang many of them. Sudarshan Faakir also gave some filmy hit music. He passed away on 19 Feb 2008 in Jalandhar.

Early Life and Awards
Early Life
During the 1960s, Faakir migrated to Mumbai, where he teamed as a lyricist in Bollywood with music director - Jaidev, one of the popular songs from the duo is "Jai Shiv Shankar" from the Hindi movie "Aap Ki Kasam". He mostly composed ghazals and composed non filmi songs and worked with eminent ghazal singers like Bhupinder Singh and Jagjit Singh.
Faakir's ghazals were known for their practicality and straightforwardness. He explored the excellence of nature, the delights and distresses of life.
Awards
Awarded many honors and awards for his composition of Hindi literature and writing, the highest among them being the Padma Shri, the greatest regular civilian award in India, in 2002. Faakir passed away in 19 February 2008 at 73 years old.
